The Women’s Mountain Bike Association (WMBA) is dedicated to fostering and empowering a vibrant community of women through the shared experience of group mountain bike rides. Our vision is to see every member develop greater confidence, both on and off the bike. All WMBA rides and skills clinics are led by volunteer ride guides and race team members. These leaders are committed to cultivating an inclusive and supportive environment where every member has the opportunity to grow. As they assist others, our ride guides and race team members also continue to strengthen their own leadership skills.
Research consistently highlights the importance of supportive networks and female-only groups within mountain biking. These spaces are vital for women, helping to build the confidence needed to pursue ambitions both on the trails and in life!
WMBA operates as a wholly volunteer-run organization and has currently reached its maximum capacity. Looking ahead, our goal is to provide leadership development opportunities for additional volunteer ride guides and to establish a more prominent presence within the local community. By partnering with other non-profits and community organizations, we hope to extend our reach and enable more women to benefit from our supportive networks.
WMBA was founded in 2008 by four women and has grown from an initial 40 members to nearly 400 today! Our inclusive community welcomes women of all backgrounds and abilities. Current members range in age from 20 to 76 years old.
“My journey in mountain biking has been transformative, teaching me resilience, determination, and the joy of a supportive group of like-minded individuals. As a guide, I am inspired by guiding new riders, helping them overcome challenges on the trails and helping them reach their full potential!” — Madison Vistuba - WMBA race team member and ride guide
