The Carl Edward Foundation provides grants to Colorado adults living with spinal cord injuries and progressive neurological diseases, helping them access essential equipment, home modifications, wheelchair-accessible vans, and resources that insurance often doesn’t cover. Everyone deserves the freedom to make choices, maintain their dignity, and live a life on their own terms. Disability doesn’t discriminate, but access often does. We believe that access shouldn’t depend on privilege.
No one should have to fight for the basics of everyday life. For 15+ years, our founder, Dr. Corey Winn, has witnessed the determination of people living with disabilities—and a system that leaves essential needs unmet. Getting out of bed, using the bathroom, taking a shower, and moving safely at home aren’t luxuries. We exist because independence, choice, and dignity should never depend on what insurance will pay.
Break down barriers. Expand access. Change lives. Our goal is to reach more Colorado adults with spinal cord injuries and progressive neurological diseases, fund more life-changing grants, and build a future where financial barriers don’t determine independence, dignity, or quality of life.
Did you know insurance may cover a wheelchair but not the modifications needed to get it through your front door? Basic necessities shouldn’t be luxuries. Independence shouldn’t depend on insurance.
“Without my accessible van, I couldn't get to my medical appointments, therapy, adaptive exercise, or college classes. Your support helps me stay healthy, remain independent, continue my education, and build the future I've worked so hard for.” — Anonymous C4 complete spinal cord injury
