Celebrating 70 years of promoting and protecting the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, The Arc Pikes Peak Region advocates for full inclusion and participation in our community through educational, judicial, and adult advocacy, social events, parent education, public policy and more. Together we can create a community where all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are embraced and respected.
Discrimination toward people with disabilities makes it difficult to access basic human rights, and they will likely struggle with poverty, abuse, loneliness, homelessness and more. Access to advocacy, supports and skills training is crucial for these people to participate in their communities and achieve goals. The Arc PPR receives no federal funding, while most of our program funding comes from arc Thrift Stores
Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive recreation center on our 10+ acres in Colorado Springs—a magical destination where people of ALL abilities, especially those with disabilities, can be themselves without fear of judgment. A joyful, welcoming space for connection, play, and belonging.
About 1 in 6, or 17% of children in the Unites States, ages 3-17 years, have one or more developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, ADHD, and others.
“We were in a very difficult place— overwhelmed and seriously considering pulling our daughter out of school. Thanks to advocacy, we found hope again. Arc gave us not just support, but a voice, and that made all the difference. I’m forever grateful for what The Arc does for families like mine.” — Educational Advocacy Parent
