Safe Families for Children is dedicated to supporting and strengthening families, preventing child abuse and neglect, and reducing the number of children unnecessarily entering the child welfare system.
We achieve this by hosting vulnerable children and creating extended family-like support for families facing unimaginable circumstances.
We believe all children should be safe, and parents should have a safe person to call when their lives fall apart. We prevent child abuse and strengthen families, simply by showing up when crisis hits, creating community connections in our nation’s loneliest generation. Our mission is to support and keep families together during challenging times, fostering healthier environments.
We aim to increase funding by $50,000 so we can hire a Volunteer Onboarding Specialist. Currently, we receive regular calls for support that we are unable meet due to lack of volunteers. Since we work with children, our vetting process is extensive and requires a lot of attention and time.
Having a team member that can fully manage volunteer recruitment and onboarding will allow us to make more volunteers available to children who need a temporary host home.
With more resources, we can expand our team, enhance our impact, and ensure that children and families remain safe and together during unimaginable crisis.
El Paso County’s CPS Hotline receives the most calls in Colorado. This year, Safe Families Colorado Springs helped 20 families and 40+ children, preventing abuse and reducing foster care trauma.
