Our mission is to help heal those who have served by offering a path to resilience, recovery, and new purpose through the art of fly fishing and community. Through hands-on activities, mentorship, and real connection, we hope to help our participants find strength, peace, and meaning not just on the river or lake, but in every part of their life. Our program is 100% donation based, uses 100% volunteers at the program level, and is 100% free to our participants.
The majority of our Participants suffer from PTSD. In 2020 the University of Essex found that a group of military veterans exposed to outdoor activities experienced “a decline in PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, and stress, with improved work and social functioning and increased post-traumatic growth.” Outdoor recreational activities ameliorates PTSD, improves well-being, and even prevents suicides.
To maintain a community where every participant finds belonging, confidence, and joy. Where every cast, every knot tied, and every moment shared becomes a small step toward healing and hope. Where fly fishing is more than a sport, it’s a bridge back to a participant’s passion and purpose.
23 Percent of Veterans using the VA system suffer from PTSD.
An average of 17 Veterans commit suicide each day, twice the rate of the civilian populace.
“Spouse: He had no focus, no spark, no energy. He was giving up on himself. Participant: It wasn't just a fishing trip. It was being among other veterans, people I could trust. I was out with people who understood and cared. Spouse: I got back the man I married, I had him back.” — Anonymous Participant who has remained active and now volunteers.
