For 27 years, Catamount Institute has inspired a connection through nature with the pre-K high school programs we offer at 18 different school districts here in Teller and El Paso counties serving more than 5,000 young people a year. We want every child in our region to have positive, supportive, and safe outside experiences to nurture the future environmental and sustainable-minded leaders we need.
Through educating, mentoring, fostering values of respect and curiosity, and allowing kids and young people the chance and time to explore beyond the screen, we give our children and young people a glimpse into the beauty of nature that is all around us. We plant the hope for young people in the Pikes Peak region to love and cherish who they are and all that is around them.
Our goal is to provide exceptional outdoor education for all youth. We are hoping to increase the variety and comfort of the outdoor experiences we provide, by gaining more outdoor education materials for example: fossil specimens, fishing rods, digital cameras, new vans, and new shade structures.
93% of 4th and 5th grade students in Catamount Institute’s after school programs reported a positive change to their relationship with the environment.
