Porchlight Friends provides companionship services to older adults in their homes. We utilize community volunteers to assist with projects in the home and provide transportation for doctor appointments and errands in town. Our goal is to combat the loneliness and isolation that so many of our older community members are facing. We operate our services through the Porchlight Health technology platform, ensuring even the most technology-challenged adults have a digital voice.
Research tells us that over 30% of older adults are lonely and isolated. We combat this loneliness by pairing our older clients with community volunteers that meet with them on a weekly basis. Our companions and clients are paired together by similar interests and life experiences so those relationships form and trust is achieved while providing the face-to-face interactions that we all crave!
Our goal is to serve as many older adults in our community as possible. We know that not every older adult is able to pay for our services. If we reach our financial goals through this Give! Campaign, we can provide low or no-cost services to those that struggle to pay out of pocket.
Older adults are at a 30% higher risk for social isolation and loneliness due to changes in health and social connections that can come with growing older, and hearing, vision, and memory loss.
