Lotus Foundation works directly with survivors of human trafficking in the Pikes Peak region, providing them with case management and confidential advocacy services. Our goal is to see each survivor leading a safe, healthy, independent life and we are grateful for the opportunity to support them on that journey. Additionally, we are one of very few organizations that serves ALL survivors, regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, sex vs labor trafficking, or how recently they were trafficked. Lotus Foundation does not turn away any survivor in need.
While many organizations have a flat list of services they do and do not offer, and to whom, we at Lotus Foundation have not found that ‘one size fits all’ approach to be effective. Our services and support are completely individualized to each survivor and their needs, and everything is guided by them. What one person needs is not what the next needs, and we understand and accommodate that gladly.
Lotus Foundation is in the process of launching a rental assistance program in order to help survivors of human trafficking get into their own safe and independent home.
Eventually, we hope to also open an emergency safe house specifically for survivors of human trafficking, which would be the very first of its kind in the Pikes Peak region. We also hope to soon add a rental assistance program, to aid survivors with getting into their very own home.
Studies have found that without proper aftercare and support, 80% of human trafficking survivors will willingly return to their trafficker because they don’t know what else to do.
“Lotus showed me what true compassion looks and feels like when I received none anywhere else prior. They made sure I was safe, clothed, fed, and felt like I mattered. This helped restore my feelings of self-worth to never give up on myself. I am now living a life I love full of joy.” — A Lotus Foundation client
