Since 2005, Help Autism Center has helped families with autism and other disabilities, find the resources for services and therapies. The Help Autism Service Dogs program provides service dogs at no cost to the families, and will improve their quality of life.
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the United States, a dramatic increase in diagnoses from 2000 (1 in 150) to today (1 in 36.)-Autism Society. Help Autism Center knew back in 2005, the call for help was a real SOS emergency to help families. People with Autism have different needs. Depending on the individual, they can benefit significantly from a Service Dog, being an emotional anchor.
The goal for the Help Autism Service Dogs program. To provide at least two service dogs per year, to families with autism and other disabilities, at no cost to the families. To improve the quality of life for their child or adult with autism and other disabilities. Collaborate with organizations.
The wait time to receive a service dog can be 2-4 years, depending on the service dog provider. The costs to train a service dog can be $10,000 to $50,000. Not including the cost of the dog.
