Code4Outdoor is dedicated to promoting and improving the mental resiliency and well-being of 1st responders through outdoor activities such as bicycling, climbing, and hiking. We recognize the challenges and emotional strains faced by these brave individuals and firmly believe that engaging in epic events, created and executed by our team of like-minded individuals, enables 1st responders to build a strong support network and becomes a powerful tool in fostering their overall wellness.
Suicide among 1st responders continues to increase at an alarming rate in Colorado. A police officer alone is 4 times more likely to die by their own doing than by a perpetrator. You can help strengthen the mental resiliency of our 1st responders by donating to Code4Outdoor. The events Code4Outdoor organize, help 1st responders recharge and reconnect with themselves and the outdoors.
Our goal for 2025 is to make a positive impact on 1,000 first responders and family members. We will do this through multiple presentations, events and activities throughout the year.
In the state of Colorado, between 2019 and 2024, twenty-two 1st responders have died as a result of suicide. This includes police, fire, dispatch, and EMS.
“Outdoor activity has impacted all areas of my life, from physical and mental well-being, to emotional resilience. Code4Outdoor recognizes the importance of outdoor adventure for both personal health and social growth for the first responder community, gathering individuals and creating community.” — Michael C., Colorado Springs Fire Department
